Topics covered, for review and reference:

Recommendations

FONTS & COPY

  • SEO best practices: Use H1 tags only once on a page and in the top header only

  • Use H2, H3 sub-headers heading down the page in succession

  • Keep in mind Google reads keywords in H1, H2 and some H3 tags.

  • Minimise the use of italics and bolding as these are not great for your SEO

  • Titles need to be written out, not in acronyms as it’s hard for people to follow

  • Use descriptor language in buttons: Read More ⇢ Discover More About Still Here

URLS

  • Better to write entire words out in your URLs, not use acronyms or other abbreviations - for your SEO. Google needs to see those words.

  • Use dashes in between every word. So: www.still-here.ca/thispagehere or www.still-here.ca/tph ⇢ www.still-here.ca/this-page-here

SITE ORGANIZATION

  • Back-up and then delete any pages or functions that are not being used on the site currently, unless they will be used again in the near future

  • Delete duplicates of photos in Asset library

  • Keep pages, blogs, calendars and other functions grouped together in the Not Linked section

  • Use folders and links to create subheadings in Not Linked section for organization

LONGER TERM SUGGESTIONS

  1. Combine all storefronts into one and use categories for display on the Shop page

  2. Combine all three blogs into one and instead use summary blocks to display major categories where you want them

  3. Combine newsletter lists into one

  4. Combine social media accounts into one unified brand offering recovery coaching and mindfulness training

  5. Consider a new Domain that includes words about what you do and has no dashes such as, www.stillhererecovery.com or www.stillherecoaching.com

PAGES

  • Break up long pages into sections

  • Consider adding a Back to Top button

  • Delete any old code blocks on pages, that you are no longer using

  • Review each page for redundant/repetitive language or functions and streamline

  • Break up too long pages into two if needed - or add extra info in a blog post and link to the page

  • Minimize too many links away from your site in text on pages. Some is good! Authority links are good for SEO but we don’t want people jumping off your site too fast and getting lost

  • If you have links to other internal pages, make sure they are front and centre - in buttons perhaps, instead of hard to find in text. We want people know where to go next to do the next thing you want them to do (ie: to the shop, or sign up for newsletter or contact us.)

  • Combine all testimonials onto one page, then use carousels on pages to display across the site, that link back to the one page

  • Consider adding your blog to the top navigation or the footer

Still To Do:

  1. Create tutorial video(s) for 7.1 Fluid Engine

  2. Our Packages page (?)

    1. Link on the homepage in a “splash” area

  3. Rewrite / clean up urls and page titles on the new site so that there are no acronyms used

  4. Then, 301 Redirects from old URLs to new ones as per Kevin’s list

  5. Double check SEO page settings to be sure no duplicates

  6. Double check internal pages for any design anomalies from the upgrade

  7. Move Domain over from old site to the new one

  8. Move account and subscriptions over to the new site - Sky to liaise with Squarespace

    1. Go over subscriptions before moving - are all of these needed?

  9. Send out Permissions to Kevin and Shelley and turn website over
